Happy Mother's Day

Every evening when Wendy comes home, she focuses on our son Thomas.

Wendy's an incredible mom -- if there's still some daylight when she gets home, it's not uncommon for her to join Thomas and me for a game of pick up basketball in the driveway - usually while she's still in heels!

And let me tell you, she's got a killer jump shot.

Thomas and I might cook dinner -- or sometimes we just grab some IN-N-OUT burgers -- but at the kitchen table, Wendy sits next to Thomas so she can discuss his day at school and check in on his homework.

And when Thomas goes to sleep, after a round of indoor nerf basketball (we shoot alot of hoops in our house) , Wendy then comes up to bed.

But Wendy is never done working, so she always comes up the stairs with a big tote bag full of letters and briefings.

I see her up late poring over all this material, reading your letters, and writing notes back to the people of Los Angeles.

And I know she's doing that for you, because she believes in you and what we can do together to lead Los Angeles forward.

This race will be over in a little more than a week, and I just want to thank you for everything you're doing out there to bring this thing home.

You're a part of our family, and you always will be.

Happy Mother's Day.

And check out this photo of Wendy and Thomas from when we went bowling the other night:
