Greuel Picks Up Major Labor Endorsement in Campaign for Mayor

LOS ANGELES — Propelling her Mayoral campaign forward with a big boost of energy for the final months of 2012, today Los Angeles City Controller Wendy Greuel won a coveted labor endorsement from the Painters and Allied Trades District Council 36.

“We are pleased to strongly and enthusiastically endorse Wendy Greuel for Mayor,” said Robert Smith, Political Director of the Painters and Allied Trades District Council 36. “It’s time for a major overhaul and a real transformation of our city government, and there is nobody better suited to lead that movement than Wendy. Her broad resume of experience working in government and in the private sector, coupled with her comprehensive understanding of our local economy provides her with the necessary knowledge and skills needed from our next Mayor to help spur economic growth and create more good paying middle class jobs in Los Angeles. We are confident that she’ll be an outstanding Mayor and a strong voice for the residents of our city.”

“I am deeply honored to have such an important and early endorsement from the Painters and Allied Trades District Council 36,” said Controller Greuel. “Their endorsement illustrates my commitment to working people and to helping to grow the middle class in Los Angeles. It also shows my dedication to taking my experience as our city’s Controller, fighting to root-out waste, fraud, and abuse in government, along with my background of creating jobs through my work as a Councilwoman and in the private sector, to once again make our city a hub for economic innovation and growth.”

The Painters and Allied Trades District Council 36 represent more than 11,000 working men and women in Southern California who work in finishing trades and include Painters, Drywall Finishers, Glaziers, Floor-layers, and Tradeshow and sign-craft workers.
