Greuel Scores Endorsement from California’s 3rd largest Newspaper Group
LOS ANGELES, CA – The Los Angeles Newspaper Group editorial board has endorsed Wendy Greuel for mayor.
With an average weekday readership of 1,487,410, LANG ranks 6th in the nation. Its newspapers include the Los Angeles Daily News, the Daily Breeze, the Long Beach Press Telegram, the Pasadena Star-News, and the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.
The endorsement comes on the same day that Greuel earned the backing of the influential Valley Industry and Commerce Association PAC.
In their editorial, LANG said: “Which candidate has the strongest combination of qualifications, political skill and personal character? Which of the eight people on the ballot can best represent city residents' diverse interests? Which man or woman has the best chance to lead L.A. back from the fiscal brink? This newspaper's editorial board has weighed those questions and found a clear answer. It's Wendy Greuel.
"Greuel, the city controller and former city councilwoman who worked in the Clinton administration, is the only candidate who has held citywide office and served in government outside the flawed culture of L.A. City Hall. She is the only candidate who has valuable experience in private business along with a government resume, having been an executive in the entertainment industry for five years before her City Council stint. She has received not only much-scrutinized endorsements from labor unions but also support from important business leaders…
“…It should be her. We believe Greuel would make L.A. proud as the first woman to lead the nation's second most populous city. She has the combination of experience, know-how and personal qualities to be a fine mayor.”

“I am so honored to earn the endorsement of the Los Angeles News Group editorial board,” said Greuel. “LANG is one of the most respected and trusted media organizations in California, and their endorsement is a powerful statement of support for our campaign. I’ll be a mayor for all of Los Angeles so no part of our city is left behind, and I’ll be a tough fiscal watchdog and make government more accountable.”
Greuel is riding a surge of momentum in the race for mayor. She recently earned the endorsement of the Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL), the United Firefighters of Los Angeles City (UFLAC) Local 112, Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project, San Fernando Valley Young Democrats, and Teamsters Local 399.
