Kira Morrison, a junior at Hollywood High School and a Sherman Oaks native, has been volunteering for months and is helping get out the vote this weekend.
She's been volunteering for months, and her favorite memory so far was when she phone banked on her birthday and received a happy birthday phone call from Wendy -- but winning on Tuesday would be even better.

As she made calls to potential voters, I had an opportunity to talk to Kira about what inspired her to get involved in the campaign and to talk about her experience as a volunteer so far:
Q: When did you start volunteering for the campaign?
Kira: I started as a fellow about six weeks ago.
Q: What inspired you to volunteer?
Kira: My friend, Sophie Bridges, encouraged me to join her to phone bank one day. Sophie's whole family volunteers for Wendy at the Studio City office. We even hosted a lemonade stand on a recent Saturday -- giving out free lemonade and sweets while talking to people about Wendy. Sophie and I phone banked for President Obama together, Sophie's belief in Wendy inspired me to also support her.

Q: Have you had any prior campaign experience?:
Kira: Yes, I phone banked for President Obama in his most recent election. Also, I am an advocate for LGBT issues in my community. I am actively involved with the Gay-Straight Alliance at my high school.
Q: What is your favorite part about volunteering?
Kira: I like being able to spend time with friends and meet new people while coming together for a cause. I made over 200 calls in two days once, I enjoy reaching out to the voters directly.
Q: Why do you support Wendy?
Kira: I admire her stance on public education. I go to a public school, Wendy did as well and she sends her son Thomas to an affiliated charter. I know she will be a fighter for our education just as she worked hard to establish LA's Best afterschool program. I also appreciate Wendy's advocacy for a woman's right to choose and other LGBT issues such as marriage equality. Wendy is someone who I trust to advance the issues I care most about.
Q: What are your plans for the future?
Kira: I see myself becoming a full time musician, my goal is to attend music school after graduating from high school. In terms of campaigning, I will definitely help other campaigns in the future!

Q: What do you like to do when you aren't volunteering or focusing on your studies at Hollywood High School?
Kira: I am in the choir at Hollywood High and I participate in musical theater as well.
