The announcement comes on the heels of major endorsements for Greuel by the top business organizations in the city: The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Jobs PAC, the Valley Industry and Commerce Association PAC, and the Los Angeles County Business Federation (Biz Fed).

“Wendy Greuel understands what we need to do to grow our economy because her family owns a small business, and she’s worked in our iconic entertainment industry,” said George Schaeffer, President and CEO, OPI Products*. “Wendy will fight to keep jobs and balance Los Angeles’s budget. And she will actually work with business owners to cut red tape and bureaucracy so LA can become a global destination for businesses and entrepreneurs. She’ll be a great mayor for all of Los Angeles.”

“Wendy is going to do everything she can to create jobs in Los Angeles. That means making it easier for businesses to grow here, ensuring that our workers are the best educated in the country, and investing in our roads and transportation system,” said Kenneth Burk, Executive Vice President, Tutor Perini Corporation*. “And Wendy will crack down on waste in government so we can balance the budget and stop the cuts that have hurt Angelenos and business alike.”

“Wendy will work to stop the cycle of crisis, layoffs and cuts that have crippled our economy. And she has the experience to create jobs across the city and revitalize our economy so no part of LA is left behind,” said Jasmine Borrego, President of TELACU*. “Wendy will also help make government more accountable and responsive so Angelenos across the city get the services they expect and deserve.”

“I’m proud to have the support of business owners from all over the City,” said Greuel. “I know what it means to be a small business owner, because I’ve helped run my family’s small business that my grandfather started here 66 years ago. And I know that the most important thing is to create jobs across Los Angeles, and make sure Angelenos are the ones getting hired. Whether it’s keeping Hollywood production here or investing in training programs for our workers and a better education system, I will do everything I can to grow the economy for all of Los Angeles.”

Greuel has also earned the support of more than 21 unions representing tens of thousands of working men and women across Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Daily News, the Los Angeles Police Protective League, United Firefighters of Los Angeles City, and U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer.

A lifelong Angeleno, Wendy Greuel started her career in public service in the office of former Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley, eventually becoming deputy to the Mayor. Following her tenure in Mayor Bradley’s office, Wendy worked as a senior advisor at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. In 1997, Wendy transitioned into the private sector, working in the film industry as an executive at DreamWorks Pictures, and in 2002, she was elected to the Los Angeles City Council to represent the City’s 2nd District. In 2009, Wendy was elected Controller for the City of Los Angeles. As Controller, she is the taxpayer’s watchdog, and is responsible for ensuring that the City is held accountable for its actions.

Wendy Greuel is considered one of the leading candidates for Mayor, and is the only candidate in the race who has already run successfully citywide. In 2009, Greuel received more votes than any candidate for any office. In the race for Controller, she earned almost two-thirds of the vote and finished 47% ahead of her next closest competitor.
